i made a few more limited edition skirts…
i also made a few designs into tee shirts. i’m printing them on ladies and unisex size tees
i’m thinking of making a few more skirt prints into tees, which other designs would you like see on tee shirts?
i spent sunday cleaning out my workroom. i thought it would only take a few hours, and i ended up working on it for over 12. it needed it! there’s still one stubborn pile of odds and ends i can’t seem to find a place for. i’m tempted to just dump it in the trash! well, you know what i mean. i should probably take some pictures while it looks all neat, it won’t last too long like that!
the good news is i uncovered a whole pile of pieces to make some more swatch bundles with!
the bad news is it will probably take me a few weeks to get them together and list them in my etsy shop.
i’ve just added a few new goodies to my website!
a couple of ‘limited edition’ skirts…
americana skirt, featuring vintage bicentennial print barkcloth.
colorful & fun print mix flowering vine skirt.
and some hex sign sweater clips…
to wear with your hex sign skirt!
i end up with alot of fabric odds and ends from making skirts. i’ve just listed 10 bundles of assorted swatches in my etsy shop.
the bundles feature sample prints, test ink colors, test dye colors, test fabrics, leftover pieces from print runs and dye lots, prints that i smudged but still have salvagable sections (don’t worry, i cut out the smudged sections, you only get the good parts!) and other experimental fun! you can use them for all sorts of projects like patchwork, pouches, coin purses, dolls…
each bundle contains 6, 7 or 8 pieces, with sizes ranging from 15×18 inches to 6×7 inches. take a peek at them here!
jen just posted a link in her blog to this most amazing artist studio. you have to look at it!
the red/orange combo!
i’ve just added the hex sign skirts to my website.
thanks so much for all of your input! at first the red/orange combo was winning by more than double the yellow votes, but all you yellow lovers quickly filled the gap! in the end the red/orange still won by about 4 to 3. i did end up switching the red and orange color positions, i like it better this way. i hope you do too!
(if you’re on my mailing list, i haven’t sent out my update email yet, i’m waiting ’til i add a few more things next week so i don’t become bothersome!)
it seems like sometimes wordpress somehow turns off comments when i don’t want it to! i don’t know how or why but it happens a couple of times a year. maybe i need to update to the new version. sorry!
anyways, i’d really like to know what you think about the star colorways in the last post, and i think the comments are working now so please feel free to comment! the red/orange combo is winning by 2 to 1 on facebook. i’m thinking i’ll go with the red/orange combo but switch the color positions so it’s orange and green at the top of the design since the tulip combo is red and green at the top. what do you think?
i always figure out the colorways for different prints on the computer, and 98% of the time they come out exactly like i want them to when i actually print them. the first two hex sign skirt colorways came out just right…
but i can’t decide which colorway of the star version i like.
i printed the one with yellow first, then thought i might like it better with red. then i thought i liked it better with yellow. then i thought maybe i like mustard-y yellow alot more than most people. now i just don’t know. i’ve been staring at both of them for days. should i just flip a coin or will you decide for me? which one do you like better?
summer weather makes me feel like rummaging through the vintage fabric stash and putting together some colorful combinations. here’s a peek at some ‘limited edition’ skirts i just finished up…
the red flowering vine print fabric and the americana print barkcloth are both vintage sample yardage from sears, they still had the production tags on them. remember this awesome fabric i found a couple of years ago? that was a sears print too.
my friend joe gave me a sears catalog from 1966, after i saw it at his house one day and i (rudely!) couldn’t stop looking through it the whole time i was visiting. here’s a few pages featuring some of the great fabrics they used to sell (click on the pictures to enlarge).
that ship-in-a-bottle print is so cute!
so are those terry cloth whales.
look at those cute folky prints on the left.
i’m running a little later than i planned with a website update. i’m printing the other colorways for the hex sign skirt next week so i hope to have new goodies up the week after that, including the two skirts i just showed you. i’m also printing up some fairytale forest tees!
