and the winner is…
the red/orange combo!
i’ve just added the hex sign skirts to my website.
thanks so much for all of your input! at first the red/orange combo was winning by more than double the yellow votes, but all you yellow lovers quickly filled the gap! in the end the red/orange still won by about 4 to 3. i did end up switching the red and orange color positions, i like it better this way. i hope you do too!
(if you’re on my mailing list, i haven’t sent out my update email yet, i’m waiting ’til i add a few more things next week so i don’t become bothersome!)

i like the brighter version of the star skirt you chose, very fun! the heart one is my favorite though, reminds me of the queen of hearts!

Hi!
I grew up in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. google: William Schuster, Hex signs. My husband’s brother painted hex signs in the early ’70’s for Mr. Schuster! They would paint in front of spectators at the KUTZTOWN FOLK FESTIVAL, too.
In Allentown, PA there was a delightful gift shop by the name DISTLEFINK, with lovely handpainted doll house furniture, with swirls/flowers/swishes. I have my mom’s hex sign pin that she wore in the 60’s, too.
Love the blogworld & bringing history & art to everyone who loves to search & read!
thanks,
Holly
