hi there!

September 9th, 2010

oh boy, where did july go. oh wait, where did august go??  i can’t believe how fast summer flew by.

it started off badly with my little pal henry getting deathly ill, but thankfully he’s back to normal now!

painted the house (well, my boyfriend did, mostly)…mission wildflower & wild raisin! i adore it!!

i picked up a bunch of great 70’s craft books at the thrift store and made these crazy crochet legwarmers…

i just realized how well they match the new house paint! the pattern is from ‘Creative Crafts’ Family Circle, 1977.

remember the major skirt print rip-off? a blog friend sent me a photo taken in one of their stores this summer showing at least one of the styles is still on the rack. i have contacted the woman at cyroline who told me they have removed the items about it numerous times but didn’t receive a response. surprised? me neither.

and i made a bunch of new stuff! here’s a sneak peek at a couple of new things…

i’m hoping to add them to my website next week, along with some of the tee shirt prints (schwarzwalder, dutch treat and fairytale forest) printed as craft panels that you can use in your own projects.

i’m also going to try something new which i am calling a ‘debut discount’. for new screen printed skirt designs i’m going to offer a 20% discount off the regular price for the first 48 hours after i add it to my site, so a skirt with a regular price of $62 will only be $49.60 for the first 2 days! if you’d like to be notified, you can sign up for my email list here, or keep an eye right here on my blog or on my facebook page, i will post it in both spots.

oh boy it looks like my email form isn’t working right now! that’s no good! you can email me your address at hannah at madewithlovebyhannah.com and i can add you to the list. sorry about that!  okay, it looks like it’s working again!

doll clothes

June 30th, 2010

i love finding grab bags full of vintage sewing goodies at the thrift store. last week i found one full of vintage woven trim (the kind i like to hoard!) and scraps of fabric. this was some of the fabric! doll clothes panels…click the picture to enlarge!

the prints are pretty cute. i wouldn’t mind a couple of these outfits in my size…

anyways, since i’m hoarding the vintage trim, i thought i would give these away to someone who might like to make them. they are for an 11-12″ doll. do you want them?

vintage screen printed sweaters

June 21st, 2010

i’ve always loved these vintage screen printed sweaters

they used to be all over the thrift stores back when i was in high school, and when i first learned how to screen print i would marvel over how they were screen printed in one piece and then sewn up the sides and underarm.

i still find them now and then. i just picked up this one, it looks like it’s never even been worn…

ps- i forgot to mention there are a few new limited edition skirts on my website, and i made a scherenschnitte print dish cloth!

tees, part 2

May 20th, 2010

i finally decided on a new tee style…

it’s a cotton/rayon/poly blend heathered tee. i’ve been wearing around the color combos that didn’t make it onto my website and i have to say they’re super soft and comfy, form-fitting, a little slinky even,  but not tight. the neckline is a little lower and loser than the other tee styles. i like it.

the scherenschnitte tee is printed with non-opaque white so it looks tonal and it allows the heather pattern to show through a little. i like the lighter color on the darker tee.

(i have a few of the ringer tees left, they’re still on my website here and here.)

and now my question to you: do you think color names like pine, coal, stone and bark are better or worse than plain ol’ green, black, grey and brown?  i like a little color name flair, but sometimes i think when i’m ordering something online it’s better to keep it plain and simple. but then, the heather tees really do look like bark and stone! what do you think?

creepy critters

May 13th, 2010

i picked up this crazy pair at the thrift store a few years ago.

they are made out of bleach jugs. i remember thinking who? what? when? where? why? how? but i knew they needed to come home with me.

you can imagine my excitement last weekend when many of those questions were answered…i was flipping through socorro’s 1972 McCall’s Needlework & Crafts magazine and look what i saw!

hello billy bunny and debby duck, it’s nice to meet you!

daisies in the dell

May 7th, 2010

i found this really lovely embroidered pillow at the thrift store the other day. bunny + acorns!

it matches the livingroom perfectly, and it matches this slipcover i’ve been crocheting for the livingroom chair…

the colors remind me of the california hillside, that ‘antique gold’ color being all that dry grass! like my view from the front porch…

the pattern is called ‘daisies in the dell’, which i found pretty irresistible. it’s a blanket pattern from a 1976 issue of ‘today’s woman granny squares’. i was looking around online for pictures of crochet slipcovered furniture but haven’t had much luck finding examples. have you seen any? have you made one? the chair frame is not upholstered so it’s just a cushion slipcover. so far i’ve finished the front top and bottom. the sides will be crocheted in the gold color, and i’m thinking of using velveteen for the back of it.

no more ringers?

May 6th, 2010

well it looks like the ringer tees are really being discontinued. that was my favorite style! bummer. so if you’ve had your eye on the scherenschnitte ringer tees or the fairytale forest tees, i’ll only have the ladies sizes available on my website through the weekend. i’m going to print the same designs on a different style, just not sure which one yet.
