hey, that looks familiar…
i always get really excited when i have a piece of vintage fabric, and then while stumbling around on the internet or in a thrift store, i see the same fabric in action. it doesn’t take much to get me excited! today, while i should have been working, i was looking at bathing suits on etsy and i saw this really cute girls swimsuit…
and i thought…hey, haven’t i seen that fabric somewhere before? so i looked under the pile of stuff on my cutting table and sure enough…
i’d like to dig out my vintage bathing suit patterns and see if i can recreate a similar one for myself. so cute! did i mention it doesn’t take much to get me excited?

Love the fabric–ahhhh the true blue—and the swimsuit is cool!

That print is lovely! And I love the skirt on that suit. :)

Well if that’s ‘not much’ I guess I’m easily exited too! I’m also humbled that anyone would attempt to make their own bathing suit! I’d be so worried by memories of broken elastic and fabric which magically turns see-through in chlorinated water! see http://prettyshabby.blogspot.com for her 30th June post on vintage swimsuits. Very funny! t.x

I have a swimsuit in that exact same pattern. It’s an actual vintage suit I found in a costume store. I absolutely LOVE that fabric though.

o! that would be so amazing if you could make one for yourself! so, is this fabric stretchy in any way? i’m not too familiar with vintage swimsuits so i’m trying to imagine what the fabric feels like.

how lucky nix! i’d love to see your swimsuit!
the fabric isn’t stretchy, it feels like a woven cotton blend. the girls one looks like it has smocked panels on the sides so i’d have to make it stretchy that way.
