may flowers
i collect, and have collected (amassed? hoarded?) a lot of different things. i was rummaging around in the basement and i dug up these metal enamel flower pins i used to collect in high school. there’s a ton of them, i started counting and got up to 200, then somebody started playing a ukelele outside and i got distracted…there’s probably about 250 of them. i think i stopped buying them after they started to cost more than 50 cents at the thrift store, or maybe i just had enough? is that possible?
pinks and oranges…
blues and greens…
spirit of ’76!
i had artfully arranged them by color on a big piece of green felt before i rolled them up and forgot about them.

OMG! I can’t believe that his is the first time I’ve read your blog. It’s like we’re twins who were separated at birth (however you turned out a lot cooler than I did). I love/collect these flower pins as well but they are way to expensive right now. I have a lot of the same knick knacks you do and the little yarn gingerbread house picture you found at a thrift store was definitely on my wall when I was little. If we weren’t sisters, I would so totally want to marry you. Come visit me at thejunkinmytrunk.typepad.com or thejunkinmytrunk.etsy.com
I am in the middle of getting my stuff re-listed after a short hiatus.

What a great collection! Mine is nowhere near as big – but I think they are fun to collect (although it has been a couple years since I’ve bought more since the prices seem to have jumped). I have them on a memory board on the wall by my bedroom – interactive art as I wear them & put them back in different spots.

Oh to be distracted by a Uke. ^-^ What fun. I love those flowers and pick them up when ever I can find them. Though that’s not very often around here.
I’ve taken to making them into fun new pieces of jewelry to wear.
Love your blog, found you from Posy Gets Cozy and I’m so happy I did ^-~

May I ask (roughly) where you live that you were distracted by an ‘ukulele? We lived in Hawaii for three years, and my son plays.

i live in los angeles. it was unusual to hear one, that’s why i got distracted!

I have a small growing collection of these pins.We don’t seem to have them in the UK so it’s not easy to find them. I display them on one of my vintage mannequins. You must get some out on display it’s such a shame for them to be rolled up out of sight.I tell you what I’ll ‘look after them’ for you! Off to check out the rest of your blog.

Girl, you have got a fortune on your hands there! Have you looked at what those pins are going for on eBay these days! Mind-boggling! xo, suzy

I LOVE your enamel pins. How could you forget about them? :)
I do believe you have the largest collection of most I have seen.
You’ll have to frame them or have them out for show now that you
brought them all out.
Just found your blog via Alicia Paulson’s and will have to catch up on some reading. Love the kissing dutch people in your banner. I have a small collection of them I’ll be sharing on my blog soon.
Happy 4th!
