outwitted

February 1st, 2007

a few months ago, i got my hands on a big roll of this cool vintage fabric. it’s called “outwitted”, designed for sears by lawrence peabody.

outwitted!

lawrence peabody studied interior architecture at rhode island school of design, graduating in 1950. he went on to study at the royal academy of fine arts in copenhagen.

“Peabody, one of the most prominent home furnishings designers of the last half of the 20th century, had a career that encompassed the full range of home furnishings including furniture, fabric, rugs, bath products and accents.”-Home Accents Today, 12/2002

i have paired it with a coordinating print of my own to make some super fun and optically intriguing skirts. coming really really soon!

darling dirndls

January 23rd, 2007

since the last post left us in the black forest, i thought i would continue our visit to germany with dirndls. my edelweiss skirt and corduroy skirt are both influenced by my lifelong love of darling dirndls. here are some photos i dug up of me wearing dirndls and dirndl inspired outfits through the years…

dirndls!

my favorites are the ones that mix different prints and patterns together

cute dirndl prints

top it off with a little embroidery, some ric rac and a sweet busty blouse-perfect! look, even the labels are cute!

pooky!

January 3rd, 2007

i try not to play favorites, i try to love all of my knick knacks equally, but then there’s pooky. i first met pooky at a thrift store in rhode island over a decade ago. our eyes met from across the room, pooky’s disgruntled stare was too hard to resist…i ran as fast as i could over to the bric-a-brac section…

pooky art

i make pooky artwork, i got myself a pooky tattoo…

pooky!

i made a giant five foot tall paper mache pooky covered in silk flowers…

big pooky

i even made a custom glitter pooky skee-ball alley with tufted red vinyl sides and super jumbo gold ric rac trim (i like to call it pookee-ball)

pookeeball

so there you have it. my favorite.
